FAQ

FAQ

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you like. Street clothes work just fine. We’ll provide a strap to keep your pant leg away from the chain or you can roll it up. We provide helmets and we have rain jackets should you want one.

Should I bring a helmet?

No need, we provide helmets, locks and lights free of charge!

How fit should I be? (Do I have to be Lance?)

If you can ride a bicycle at a leisurely pace for 2-3 hours over 8-10 miles, stopping often to see the sights and enjoy the views, then you’re fit enough.

Do you have tours in the winter months?

If it’s not too cold for you, it’s not for us either. Dressed properly, the crisp air in the cooler months is a very enjoyable experience.

Where do your tours start?

All Portland tours start in our shop at 133 SW 2nd Avenue. Portland, OR 97204.

All Honolulu tours start in our shop at 150 Kapahulu Avenue, Honolulu, HI

Do I tip the guide?

Like many people who work at something they love, the pay is minimal so yes, our guides do appreciate a little green love. A gratuity of 10% will be added to groups of 6 or more.

What if I like the tour and want more time?

Just ask the guide if you can add on more time. Usually we can do that for a small extra charge.

Do you have clipless pedals?

We have flat pedals, toe clips (basket pedals), and SPD Mountain pedals. If you have a different pedal system feel free to bring your pedals and we’ll mount them for you.

Can I bring my own bike?

Sure, we welcome you to bring your own comfortable ride, but ours are in good shape, too.

What happens if it rains?

If it’s raining one hour before the tour is scheduled to begin, we will refund your money. If it begins raining while we are out we will return to the start if you wish, and you will be refunded based on how long we were out.

How long are the rides?

Standard tours are 3 hours long and approximately 8-12 miles in length. All our tours are suitable for almost anyone ages 8 to 88. We also have somewhat longer tours, such as the Lava Tour, which is 20 miles long.. We can also create custom tours for you of any duration and distance you like.

What is your cancellation policy?

You get a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled tour.

Do you rent bikes without tours?

Absolutely. Come and pick them up at our Portland shop at 133 SW 2nd Avenue, and at our Honolulu shop at 150 Kapahulu Avenue.

Some tours say minimum 2 people. What if I don’t have 2?

Go ahead and give us a call. We might be able to schedule others on your tour.

Should I bring water or do you provide it?

We’re trying to save the planet one disposable bottle at a time.

In Portland, If you don’t have your own multi-use water bottle we’ll be happy to sell you one for $2. Then, you can fill it with delicious tap water straight from the slopes of Mt. Hood!
In Honolulu, we currently provide free water to all our tour guests.  We encourage you to reuse and recycle the water bottle we provide.
